Easing Into Eclipse Season
astro weather report for August 3-9
This week is the calm before eclipse season. If you’re already feeling eclipse-y, you’re not off. That full moon in Aquarius had an eclipse flavor to it (despite it not being an eclipse), because of the co-presence of the North Node.
Like I’ve been saying since May, when we have a relatively “chill” week in the astrology, embrace it. Slow down, catch your breath, restore, and lay the groundwork that will anchor you in the weeks to come.
I’m going to dedicate with week’s horoscope to the eclipse story that’s unfolding for you based on your rising sign, because there’s likely already hints of it in the atmosphere.
Aug 3: Chiron stations retrograde ♉ → ♈
Stationing at 0° Taurus. Wounds around security that you’ve experienced since June are asking for you to go deeper and learn something new. Rather than just holding your breath and avoiding the hard feelings around self-worth, values, and scarcity, open up to an evolution of the story.
Aug 6: Venus moves into Libra ♎️
Venus is coming out of her fall and sashaying into one of her palatial homes.
Here, Venus is all about how we relate to one another, making adjustments for greater harmony, implementing aesthetic magic, and making justice look irresistible.
This is also notable, because come October, we’ll have a Venus retrograde through Scorpio and Libra. This is the beginning of that story for you.
Venus in Libra magnetizes by making adjustments for harmony, embodying elegance, and letting relationships and opportunities flow naturally to them.
Aug 6: Sun ♌️ trines Saturn Rx ♈️
A little friendly illumination between fire signs. The Sun and Saturn working together means the boundaries we choose support our identity and energy.
What commitments are in integrity? What responsibilities are identity affirming?
Aug 9: Mercury enters Leo ♌️
After a prolonged stay in oceanic Cancer, Mercury finally breaks free of it’s post-retrograde shadow into this flamboyant fire sign.
Use bold self-expression as practice in taking up space unapologetically, rewiring old patterns of shrinking to be palatable.
What’s the Moon Doing?
Waning moon/last quarter moon week.
We can start to feel the pull of the eclipses this week — meaning things get a little wonky, timing is slowed or sped up, events rearrange themselves in unexpected ways.
This is a great time to practice being receptive and accepting what comes up. Trying to force or avoid won’t work.
🌖 Monday-Tuesday: Moon in Aries ♈️
Double fire energy to start the week can make us feel more driven and prone to movement. Go with it — go for a longer walk, pump up your music, and take the first step NOW (not next week). No need to get combative, stay in your lane and choose the challenge you actuallly want.
Great days for exercise, following your excitement, adding spice.
🌗 Wednesday-Friday: Moon in Taurus ♉️
The Moon in fixed earth squares off with the Sun in Leo, meaning they have some tension about how to maintain and master things (Taurus goes brick by brick, putting in the work and enjoyment in equal measure. Leo goes about it via visibility and passionate, creative self-expression) but when these two signs mix, you get to prioritize giving yourself the royal treatment.
Great days for eating well, sleeping well, and pampering yourself a little.
🌘 Friday-Sunday: Moon in Gemini ♊️
Chat, connect the dots, do some research. Say nice things behind people’s back. Get creative with your words. Catch yourself in an overthinking spiral.
Great days for writing, voice noting, making the group chat lol.
🌑 Sunday-Tuesday: Moon in Cancer ♋️
Take some time to feel it all. This astrology has been intense. The world’s intense. Retreat into your shell for a bit to reflect and reset before the new moon eclipse next week.
The moon is dark in the sky, to some it might seem like she’s disappeared. You have full permission to do the same. You don’t need to force visibility (especially on these days), go dark if you need.
Great days for checking in with yourself and giving yourself the nourishment you really need.
How I’m working with this astro
I’m traveling home to Australia from my home of origin (New York), so I’ll lose a day to literally being up in the air.
Midweek will look like some Taurus moon-inspired rest and recovery mode — eating well, watering myself, and making sure I get some good sunlight all do the trick.
It’s also my birthday on Saturday (8/8 baby!), which I’m very happy to be laying low and chilling with the fam for.
